This festival commemorates the figure of the Queen of Crime Agatha Christie, the best-selling novelist of all time. She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, as well as the world’s longest-running play: The Mousetrap.

Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson is a British biographer, novelist and journalist. He is the author of four novels in the crime series starring Agatha Christie, all published by Simon & Schuster in the United Kingdom and the United States:

  • A Talent for Murder (2017), about the actual disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926.
  • A Different Kind of Evil (2018).
  • Death in a Desert Land (2019).
  • I Saw Him Die (2020).

John Curran

John Curran lives in Dublin. For many years he edited the official Agatha Christie Newsletter and acted as a consultant to the National Trust. John has been working with her grandson, Mathew Prichard, to establish the Agatha Christie Archive, and has written a doctoral thesis on Agatha Christie at Trinity College, Dublin. He has written two books about Agatha Christie’s notebooks.

Mark Aldridge

An academic, speaker and historian, specialising in the world of Agatha Christie. He is the author of the 2019 book “Agatha Christie on Screen” and the author of the 2021 book “Agatha Christie´s Poirot The Greatest Detective in the World”. In January 2024, her new book Agatha Christie’s Marple: Expert on Wickedness will be released.

Matt Newbury

Author and Creative Director of the Agatha Christie Festival in the UK.

A lifelong Agatha Christie fan, he is also the author of Agatha Christie’s Devon, a guidebook to exploring the locations from her life and work. He is also the author of several other books, including subjects as diverse as the Mayflower and wild swimming. He is the co-author a series of Wild Swimming Walks books, as well as Wild Swimming Torbay released this year.
